The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has released a new outlook for the 2026/27 cotton season, projecting a significant tightening of the global cotton market.
According to the report, world ending cotton stocks are expected to decline to 71.1 million bales, approximately 7% lower than the previous season and the lowest level since 2018/19. At the same time, global cotton production is forecast to decrease while mill consumption is expected to continue growing, resulting in demand exceeding supply.
Although these projections do not indicate immediate price increases for finished textile products, they suggest a tighter supply environment for one of the world’s most important natural fibers.
For manufacturers of premium home textiles, cotton market dynamics remain an important factor in long-term sourcing strategies, production planning and inventory management. Stable supplier relationships, consistent quality standards and responsible purchasing practices become increasingly valuable during periods of market tightening.
At KEEPER SLEEP, we closely monitor developments across the global textile industry to better understand the factors shaping tomorrow’s home textile market.
